Special

All my photo sessions are special in their own way. This particular night I was meeting a friend of mine and her family. We have been discussing getting together for a session for awhile now. I became friends with Tracy when our sons played on the same baseball team two years ago. Tracy is one of those gals that I instantly felt connected to. She owns her very own personal training studio...how cool is that? And I love fitness! You can check it out here if you want! She is a business owner and so am I. We have talked about what that is like and I have enjoyed every bit of encouragement she has offered to me!

Tracy has a beautiful family and they were so fun to hang out with and photograph!

Thanks again Tracy!

It's all about what you talk about....

Although, I am technically taking pictures of your child during your session, the camera is truly secondary. I like to talk to the children I photograph and get to know them. They know lots of things and love to tell you about them. For example, I had heard that Aidan's Dad was a Bronco's fan. So I assumed Adian was too. He informed me that he was NOT! Naturally, I asked him who his favorite team was and he said the Oakland Raiders!!! I was so excited and told Aidan that we were Raiders fans too...and we are forever friends from now on and this was his reaction:

Cool thing about kids Aidian's age is that they can easily pose and do things that you tell them to do. He was a great sport and when I asked him how this hat made him feel he said very casually and quietly, "good".
Photobucket
Thanks Adain for doing such a good job. We loved having you over!

McKenna did a fantastic job when it was her turn too. She turned on the charm the minute she stepped into the studio! See!
Photobucket

McKenna, sitting so nice and looking so "pretty", right Amanda, I mean who doesn't love being told that!
Photobucket

Charming!

Then it was Stella's turn. And she is really busy and therefore The Boss. I just take her lead and we basically play! But I was able to come away with a winner like this one:

And her little grin captured in this one.

Sweet, sweet, sweet (yes, she really does require 3 sweets on this one) little brown eyed girl!

Squish!

This is Jaren! He is six months old. His family calls him Squish more often than Jaren! To be more exact I think his nickname is, The Squish! So cute! His Mama was even singing a little song to him with "The Squish" in it. Jaren was a very good little boy for us! This post is heavy with images because they were all so fun and we did several different set ups with him...one of them I will share next week...because it is a surprise....shhhhhh! Thanks for coming over Kristin.

The first one on the left is my absolute favorite of the whole session! And the one in the middle is the exact reason I wanted to take pictures of Jaren in the first place....look at those cheeks!!!

I love his little outfit. I'm a fan of plaid!

What a big boy!

Full of Sugar...

I was able to book two out of the three "Drop" Everything Sessions that I scheduled last week. The second session couldn't come on Thursday so we booked it for Friday. After all it is is a busy time of year, I get that! I do my best to accommodate my customers this way. I love it when things work out!

My friend Amanda brought her daughter Ruth over and we had a great time talking and visiting as we took pictures. I have decided that Ruth is simply full of sugar! She is so cute with her big blue eyes and can you get over the piggies in her hair!

We let Ruth take the lead. She wanted to keep her little tissue in her hand like a little lady should. As I was preparing these images for print this first one jumped out at me as one of my favorites! So cute because she is looking up at her Mama who is standing behind me. So sweet!

I think he liked his balloons...

My little friend came to visit me this morning! As his Mom was getting him out of his carseat he very politely and sweetly said "Hi!", with a little wave. Ryan has grown up a bunch since the last time I saw him...amazing how they do that! He turned three in February and I have known his family for about four years. Ryan's older sister went to preschool with my daughter. Photobucket
We had a GRAND time! As a photographer you prepare yourself every session with a few tricks up your sleeve to help your subject along and make sure you get the shots you want. No prep needed with Ryan. He was smilin' and grinin' from the start! The next four images are my favorites and would look so cute framed on the wall together.

Lori, a great big thank you for signing up for one of these sessions. Ryan was great and tell Gillian I would love to have her come out next time!

This last one is for you Paul because if I were to add a caption to this it would say something along the line of, "Hey Dad, this photographer lady is pretty cool, she let's me do dangerous stuff like this!"

I'm ready!

I am so excited for my first session today. I'm ready to Go! Can you guess how old my little visitor is???

I still have room today if anyone wants to visit too!

Testing one, two, three...

Just doing a little test run on my new logo, watermark and studio set up. I can't wait to finalize all of the details on all of the projects that I have been working on behind the scenes. New and exciting things coming soon for my little photography business.

School Spirit!

Note to self as a photographer: Football Stadium = Yummy Light!

I knew while I was taking these that they would be some of my favorite images. I am thinking we will need to do something spectacular with them in the printing department!

This was our last stop during our session. We weren't quite sure if we were going to be able to get into the stadium because it was all locked up. However, there happened to be a softball game starting up. This meant that the gate was open so that they could get to the equipment to prep the softball field. Totally awesome for us because I really wanted to get in there and I wasn't thinking that it would be right to hop fences to get in.

Class of 2011...

This is Brandon. He is graduating from High School this year...Shauna do you have a tissue in case you start to tear up? Shauna is his Mom and we are super good friends. We have been talking about Brandon's senior pictures for over a year now! Well the day finally arrived last week and Brandon and I hit the town. We found some amazing places to shoot. Brandon was a good sport and laughed at all my silly jokes and didn't make fun of me too much when I talked to my camera. Thanks for hanging out with me Brandon and I am going to have to try the jalapeno corn dog sometime!

Congratulations Brandon! You have a very bright future ahead of you. These images are just the beginning and truly a sneak peak!

Just a rough draft...

In the near future I will be offing studio sessions. I am working on my studio set up and it is starting to come together nicely! Here is a rough draft of some studio images. This is my son fresh from a day at school. He still has his sticker from preschool on his arm and sharpie on his foot from some art that he did that day before. But when he saw me setting my new backdrops up he wanted to get in on the action...and I couldn't resist snapping a few!

I am quite please as to how they turned out. I am so excited to be able to offer this as an option very soon. The best part is that we can get super creative with the background options and props we use. The biggest bonus to having this as an option in Oregon is that I will be able to book sessions during the rainy months. By the way in case you were wondering Bodie informed me that "Mama, that wall isn't real!"
