Almost a year...

I have been in business almost a year now. March will mark my one year anniversary. I have learned a lot in a year. I have been so grateful for all the people who have hired me to take their pictures. It has been so fun for me. I hope you enjoyed your sessions. I hope to work with you again in the future.

As the one year mark approaches I am of course taking some time to evaluate my business. This first year I discovered that I really enjoy children portraiture. Therefore, I have decided to narrow down the focus of my business. I will still be booking sessions with families and groups. However, I am primarily going to book sessions for children's portraits.

Soon, I will be launching my new website. It will will have all the details about the new things I will be offering. It will include 2010 prices and products. Be sure to check back here often to see what I am up to and leave me a comment. I will be posting about some up coming specials and recruitment for some models and some giveaways as well.

I heart faces...

I heart faces is a website that has weekly contests for photographers and I thought that it might be fun to enter this week.

This is one of my favorite photos as of late. My 5 year old daughter was at her dress rehersal for her dance recital and I caught her snuggling up with her kitty kat tail. The tap dance number was called...

4 + 1 = 5

It is always a treat for me to get together with this group. We had to think on our feet and find a place to go that was dry. So we went to this historic covered bridge and we were able to stay dry. I just wish it was a bit warmer for my little friends.

I owe Amanda a great big thank you for e-mailing me less than a year ago to take some photos of her "four" kids. She really gave me the confidence boost that I needed to start taking clients. Well, now that her four has turned into five it was time for some family photos.

Playtime...

I felt like the time I spent with this family was just me an the kids playing. We climbed trees, chased squirrels and read books in the campus library. We had a great time! This little family was so fun...Mom, Dad and three little boys...and a little girl on the way!

The Boys...

I did this photo session right before I left on a trip. After I returned I had two huge projects on my plate. I was just finally able to finish the edits on this session and I have so many favorites.

Josh was so sweet with his littlest brother.

I think I might have caught a real smile on this series.

I told the boys to do something superhero"ish", you know like superman???? Awesome!

This young man is the same age as my oldest.

Photobucket Lynda, your disc is going to have so many of Jace...what can I say my camera just gravitated towards him.

The boys told me this was for their "Album" cover.

These boys were so great to work with and made my job super easy!

5 Brothers...

When I spoke to my good friend about taking pictures of her boys she said that they are really easy to take pictures of, and she was right! They didn't need any coaching what so ever!

At the beginning of the day we had heavy rain, thunder and lightening. I wasn't sure we were going to be able to go outside for our session. I had a plan "B" in mind but our plan "A" worked out just fine! Thanks Lynda for contacting me and getting the gang together for this.

This of course is just a taste of what I have to show you...more to come!

Some for her to hang on her wall...

This young man will be leaving for College soon and his Mom wanted a picture of him to hang on her wall...how sweet is that. Something current and new. I will share a few but the rest are a surprise for you Mom. Brent, good luck at school and thanks for being so sweet with my kiddos.

Brothers...

Watching (well, photographing), the exchange between these two brothers was really entertaining.
You can tell they are very good friends.
I didn' t really realize what great shots I had until I was able to review them more closely. I think one of the reason I like them so much is because they are candid. Both Sam and his brother have great smiles and they are just being themselves in these shots. If you only knew what was really going on during that hand shake...Sam, was it called the tickler?

I like the fact they have their sunglasses on too. Yes, Sam is sporting a very vintage pair of Raybans, just in case you were wondering!

Sam and Jeni...

...got married on July 25th and they asked me to be their photographer!

Isn't her dress beautiful! I loved the length!

Sam's suit was pretty snazzy too!

Your wedding was beautiful you guys! Thanks again for the opportunity to do this and I will be posting more as I get them ready for you. Congratulations again!

Throw, catch and compete like a GIRL!!!!

I'm just so proud of these girls for being the athletes they are at their age. I am so glad that I know them and that I had the chance to see them in action last night at their championship game. Wow! They both had some great hits and both are so focused and determined out on the field. It is truly inspiring to watch.

Such a nice surprise...

It is so nice when you go into a situation thinking that the outcome with be a certain way and then the outcome 100% exceeds your expectations. That is the way I felt after meeting with this young lady and her sisters. You see going into this session I felt as though, I am the photographer, therefore, I will need to guide, coach and direct my subjects how to sit, when to smile and generally help them through the session. Boy was I wrong. This very creative young lady had so many good ideas on her own. She was partial to having some flowers in her hands or her hair. She had tons of suggestions about different poses and backgrounds. She took the pressure off me and she had some really great ideas. Like I said, what a nice surprise.

Seventh in line...

Did I mention she is the seventh child in her family. She is one lucky little lady. Her brothers and sisters sure do adore her. Her Mom and I were talking about it would be hard to predict how many kisses she gets eveyday! I am so glad I brought this little cradle along with me to put her in. The blocks on the bottom row are the first intials of all of her siblings...how fun!
By the way Julie you are WONDER WOMAN!!!

She didn't even know I was there...

because most of the time she was doing this.

I contacted this little ones Mom about coming to take some pictures of her. I told her that I wanted to try to capture her little feet, hands and sleepy, dreamy smiles because they grow up way to fast you know. I hope you enjoy them Julie!

I wonder what she is dreaming about?

As promised...

This turned out to be a fun shot. I am still learning to get out of my comfort zone as a photographer and learning to be brave about asking people to sit a certain way or try a different pose. These girls were up for anything. I just got a kick out of how willing they were to just flop down in the hay for me. And I think it was worth it to get this cute shot!
