Such a fun opportunity to make sure my friend, Shar, had some pictures of her daughter on her special day. Leah was baptized this month and she was smiling all day. Her Grandmother made her dress for her. The little locket around her neck has a picture of Leah in it and a picture of Christ...so sweet.

What is the Buzz about?
My daughter, Avery, has owed several different dress up costumes in her life. We had Tinkerbell, Cinderella and a beautiful pink ballerina. She never wore any of them. The only time they got played with was when her cousins or friends would come over.
The other day I spotted this little bumble bee costume at the store and knew it had to come home with me and I would worry about finding someone to wear it later. I actually had Ruth's big sister (see post below) in mind but we ran out of time. Amanda, we'll do it another time for sure!
What I wasn't prepared for was Avery falling in love with it and begging me to wear it. When I say begging, I mean to the point that the first thing she said to me when she came home from school the other day was, simply, "Bumble Bee Costume!" I didn't ever imagine she would like it so much and that she would ever put it on...go figure!
So, I had to take her out to my new favorite spot. I love this little corner in our barn because the light is so yummy. I'm still not sure if the costume is mine or hers at this point??

Ruth...
What can I say. I am sucker for the blue eyed variety...what am I saying, I love the brown eyed kind too! But I got the chance to hang out with a little blue eyed sweetie today! She was perfect! Amanda, you are the perfect client! You are so great. You just let me do my thing and you are up for anything and I love that. These were some of my favorites so far.
What a good little girl she was...look at her look right at me, just like she is supposed to!

She is brand new!
Look who I got to meet today! She could not have been any sweeter! She was such a good baby during her photo shoot. She has three older brothers who adore her and are big helpers to their Mommy! Lori, I hope you like this little sneak peek and it sure was nice to see you again.
She is just a bit over one week old and already has some flowers to put in her hair.

Almost a year...
I have been in business almost a year now. March will mark my one year anniversary. I have learned a lot in a year. I have been so grateful for all the people who have hired me to take their pictures. It has been so fun for me. I hope you enjoyed your sessions. I hope to work with you again in the future.
As the one year mark approaches I am of course taking some time to evaluate my business. This first year I discovered that I really enjoy children portraiture. Therefore, I have decided to narrow down the focus of my business. I will still be booking sessions with families and groups. However, I am primarily going to book sessions for children's portraits.

Soon, I will be launching my new website. It will will have all the details about the new things I will be offering. It will include 2010 prices and products. Be sure to check back here often to see what I am up to and leave me a comment. I will be posting about some up coming specials and recruitment for some models and some giveaways as well.

I heart faces...

I heart faces is a website that has weekly contests for photographers and I thought that it might be fun to enter this week.
This is one of my favorite photos as of late. My 5 year old daughter was at her dress rehersal for her dance recital and I caught her snuggling up with her kitty kat tail. The tap dance number was called...

4 + 1 = 5
It is always a treat for me to get together with this group. We had to think on our feet and find a place to go that was dry. So we went to this historic covered bridge and we were able to stay dry. I just wish it was a bit warmer for my little friends.
I owe Amanda a great big thank you for e-mailing me less than a year ago to take some photos of her "four" kids. She really gave me the confidence boost that I needed to start taking clients. Well, now that her four has turned into five it was time for some family photos.

The Boys...
I did this photo session right before I left on a trip. After I returned I had two huge projects on my plate. I was just finally able to finish the edits on this session and I have so many favorites.

Josh was so sweet with his littlest brother.

I think I might have caught a real smile on this series.

I told the boys to do something superhero"ish", you know like superman???? Awesome!

This young man is the same age as my oldest.
Lynda, your disc is going to have so many of Jace...what can I say my camera just gravitated towards him.
The boys told me this was for their "Album" cover.

These boys were so great to work with and made my job super easy!

5 Brothers...
When I spoke to my good friend about taking pictures of her boys she said that they are really easy to take pictures of, and she was right! They didn't need any coaching what so ever!
At the beginning of the day we had heavy rain, thunder and lightening. I wasn't sure we were going to be able to go outside for our session. I had a plan "B" in mind but our plan "A" worked out just fine! Thanks Lynda for contacting me and getting the gang together for this.
This of course is just a taste of what I have to show you...more to come!

Brothers...
Watching (well, photographing), the exchange between these two brothers was really entertaining.
You can tell they are very good friends.
You can tell they are very good friends.
I didn' t really realize what great shots I had until I was able to review them more closely. I think one of the reason I like them so much is because they are candid. Both Sam and his brother have great smiles and they are just being themselves in these shots. If you only knew what was really going on during that hand shake...Sam, was it called the tickler?
